Nick Thornton

Nick Thornton practised law in New Zealand before gaining experience in the telecommunications and investment banking sectors. In 1994, he joined Société Générale de Surveillance Holding SA (SGS) where he specialized in acquisitions and developments, particularly in the healthcare sector, and was appointed global head of Mergers and Acquisitions in 1997. Nick left SGS in 2001 to join Inveresk Research Group International as Chief Operating Officer and Head of Corporate Development. At Inveresk, he oversaw several acquisitions and business integrations as well as their public listing on the NASD in 2002 prior to its sale for USD 1.5 billion in 2004. Nick graduated LLB and MBA from Auckland University, New Zealand and is based in Geneva, Switzerland.
